Ford Escort XR3 5 Speed carb model. RHD import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. NOVA declaration done. We will complete all the UK paperwork for the new owner to register it. Very solid old car which doesnt appear to have been welded.

 

Body - 1982 MK3 Escort shell with two bolt strut tops. Original inner wings, floors, crossmember, boot floor, battery tray. Very solid old car.  Paintwork is perfectly presentable albeit a little darker than our sunburst red we are used to seeing. Being an African built car it has the spats front and rear on the arch lips. Few minor scratches and scuffs but nothing major. No signs of any rust. Has been jacked up on small front chassis sections so they are a bit dented.

 

Mechanics - Starts and runs. Engine is not running properly. It has 150 to 160 psi compression on each cylinder but runs rough. We drained the oil and changed it. It looked like it was getting fuel into the oil somehow. When it is running its running very rich and quickly blackens the plugs. Gearbox is a bit noisy which will also need looking at. New springs, bushes, bottom arms either new or refurbed. new calipers,  

 

Interior - Red strobe style seats in fairly good condition, Door cards have had speaker holes cut then blanked..Good headlining. Dashboard has been changed to the hard type. Correct XR3 dash clocks and steering wheel.  

 

Wheels - 14" 7 spoke Ford Alloys with good tyres. Would look better with original cloverleafs in my opinion.

 

Very very solid shell. Will make a good car as someone has spent a bit money on it. Needs the mechanical issues sorted out. Please feel free to come and see the car. We have a ramp so you can look underneath.
